Two suspected Chikunguniya victims die in Alappuzha
Alappuzha, Sep 9 (UNI) Two persons suspected to be suffering from Chikunguniya had died in Cherthala taluk here, hospital sources said today.
Sources said, Carmalie (65) from Kadakkarappally panchayath and Biju (33) from Pattanakkad panchayat died yesterday at the two hospitals in Cherthala taluk, taking the total number of suspected Chikunguniya victims in Alappuzha to six.
Earlier, four people, identified as Juliet (55), Sleshmanan (62), Narayani (73) and Jayaprasad (48) had reportedly fallen victim to the disease.
At present, more than 542 suspected Chikanguniya patients had been admitted to the Cherthala Taluk Hospital, which had a total bed capacity only 251.
