2 cases of physical, mental torture registered

Mumbai, Sept 9: Two women, a doctor and an advocate by profession, have registered cases of mental and physical torture against their husbands and in-laws at Varsova and Khar police stations, respectively, yesterday.

Sakshi Hemen Sampat (25), a doctor, has filed a complaint of physical and mental torture against her husband Hemen (27), mother-in-law Kalpana Bhupendra (50) and father-in-law Bhupendra (55), for forcing her to transfer her Juhu dental clinic and bring money from her parents to purchase a two-room flat, police here today said.

Dr Sakshi has also mentioned that they have taken away all valuables which she had got at the time of marriage in February this year.

In the second incident, advocate Losika Girish Dhameja (29), has filed a case of physical and mental torture against her husband Girish (32) and mother-in-law Mayadevi Bhagwandas (52), for forcing her to bring money from her parents to purchase a flat, police said.

No arrests have been made so far, police added.
