TWAS honours Fellowship to city Scientist

Hyderabad, Sept 9: Dr J S Yadav, Director of Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Hyderabad has been honoured with the prestigious fellowship of Third World of Academy of Sciences(TWAS).

The fellowship has been given in consideration of his excellent scientific contribution for the human resource development and to the benefit of the society, according to a release issued by the Institute today.

Dr Yadav has developed several new methods useful in organic synthesis especially for enantiomerically pure allylic and acetylenic alchohols and for spiroacetals.

He had shown insight and skill in executing synthesis of complex natural products like Taxol, Camptothecin, Discodermalide, Scytophycin and Polyhdroxy unsaturated fatty acids which had many benefits to the society, the release added.

To his credit Dr Yadav has 520 scientific publications and 42 patents.
