Tripura all set to conduct pulse polio programme tomorrow

Agartala, Sep 9 (UNI) Tripura has completed all preparations for the special pulse polio programme to be held in the state along with other parts of the country tomorrow.

According to official sources, polio drops would be given to children below five years of age.

''The drops will be given at 4167 places through out the state and 3686 workers and 8335 supervisors were pressed into service for this purpose,'' a top health department official said.

''The state has recorded not a single polio case in the last five years but still we dont want to take any chance, '' said the official.

The security in remote tribal areas had been tightened at places where the polio drops would be given to implement the programme without any hinderance, sources added.

During the last polio programme about 4,16,000 children were given polio drops, sources said.
