Security beefed up for Sep 16 Purulia LS bypoll
Purulia, Sep 9 (UNI) Police have taken stringent measures to ensure a peaceful and successful polling ahead of the September 16 Purulia Lok Sabha bypoll.
The state had deployed Central Paramilltary Forces (CPMF) and 5,000 policemen for the purpose, District SP Ashok Kumar Prasad said.
Mr Prasad told UNI that though the requirement of the CPMF was more, they will manage with this small force.
He further said tight security was needed keeping in view the naxal menace in the areas of the district like Jhalda, Jeypore and Kotsila in the 1149 booths.
