New York, Sep 9 (UNI) Rupesh Roy and his Venezuelan partner Roberto Maytin crashed out of the boys' doubles event at the US Open with a 7-6 (8/6), 4-6, 6-7 (5/7) loss to the American duo of Jarmere Jenkins and Austin Krajicek in the quarter-final here.

Rupesh and Roberto lost a bitterly fought contest as India's challenge in the junior competition ended in the last Grand Slam of the year.

The Indo-Venezuelan pair came across the toughest challenge in their campaign so far and lost their way after winning the opening set in the tie-breaker. The American pair recovered to win the second set convincingly as Rupesh and Roberto let their guard down after the hard-fought opener.

The third set, however, saw the Indo-Venezuelan duo match their opponents shot for shot but the effort proved futile and Rupesh and Roberto crashed out after losing the tie-breaker.

Rupesh crashed out of the singles event in the first round and his doubles show was the best by any Indian junior in fray in the US Open.
