Rockets seized in AP were made in TN foundry

Hyderabad, Sept 9: The Andhra Pradesh police today said that the rockets and the rocket launchers seized from the Maoists in different parts of the state yesterday, were manufactured at a foundry in Ambattur area on the outskirts of Chennai.

According to police sources, a special team was sent to Chennai to confirm this and, if necessary, it would take into custody the persons responsible for the illegal manufacture of the rocket shells and the launchers.

Meanwhile, police also found out that 'Kranti Transport' company was being regularly used for transporting weapons and ammunition for the insurgents to various destinations.

The Andhra Pradesh police, who have banned the activities of the transport company till further notice, have been conducting extensive searches in the godowns of different transport companies to unearth any possible illegal supply of weapons to naxalites.
