Pak nuclear scientist undegoes successful surgery
Karachi, Sep 9 (UNI) Pakistani doctors carried out successful prostate surgery of the country's nuclear scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan at the Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) here today, reports said.
The country's private Geo TV quoted hospital sources as saying the doctors would keep the scientist under observation for at least four days. He will be shifted to his sister's residence by Wednesday.
Dr Khan was shifted to AKUH on Thursday after over two years of confinement at his sprawling Islamabad residence. He had confessed to proliferating nuclear technology to Iran, Libya and North Korea but was pardoned by President Pervez Musharraf for being revered back at home as ''national hero and father of Pakistan's atom bomb''.
Dr Khan was detected with prostrate cancer during a routine medical test in early August and confirmed by a detailed examination at a hospital near Islamabad.
