One militant killed; encounter still on in Poonch

Jammu, Sep 9 (UNI) Security forces today gunned down a militant in a fierce encounter at Mendhar in border district of Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said.

The encounter was continuing when last report came in.

Sources said acting on a tip-off about militants' presence in the Kas-Blasi under Mendhar police station, the Special Operation Group (SOG) and 39 Rashtriya Rifles personnel started joint operation.

In the encounter, one militant was killed but he could not be identified so far.
