Notorious Chhota Rajan gang member flees from Silvassa jail
Silvassa, Dadra&Nagar Haveli, Sep 9 (UNI) A sharpshooter of the Chhota Rajan gang, Vijay Chaudhary escaped from the Silvassa sub-jail this morning.
Vijay Chaudhary was one of the prime accused in the murder of well-known trade unionist Datta Samant, who was shot dead on the morning of January 16, 1997 outside his home in Mumbai, by four gunmen who fled on motorcycles.
The police here are tightlipped regarding the mode of escape adopted by Chaudhary, and DIG Mukesh Mina is holding an enquiry.
Two police guards within the prison premises have been held for questioning after two mobiles were seized from them. Incidentally, mobiles are not allowed inside the prison premises, police revealed.
Vijay Chaudhary is one of the three accused brought from Dehradun on April 10, 2005 after a case was registered against him on January 27, 2005. The other two were Vikram Sathe and Arun Rude. Chaudhary was also involved in 10 'supari' killings and 18 other criminal cases, they said.
