Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir accepts TRS leader's challenge

Hyderabad, Sep 9 (UNI) Accepting the demand of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders for the resignation of Congress Legislators from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh Minister for Information and Coal, Mohd Ali Shabbir today said he was ready to resign and contest against them.

Talking to newsmen here, he termed the TRS's demand for resignation of Congress MLAs as ''ridiculous''. ''I am ready to resign if Narendra resigns his MP seat. I will contest against him anywhere in the state. Let him contest against me. There is no need for all the MLAs to resign as dmandned by TRS', he said.

The TRS leaders alleged that the Congress had cheated the people on statehood for Telangana and demanded the resignation of the Congress MLAs .

Refuting the TRS leaders charge, Mr Shabbir said the Congress was not against a seperate Telangana and was trying for a consensus.

''It is a national issue and consensus is essential from all the Political Parties in the country on it, he said.
