Meghalaya on alert, SMU condemns blast
Shillong, Sept 9 (UNI) Against a backdrop of serial bomb blasts in Malegoan town of Maharashtra, Meghalaya police today directed its personnel across the state to keep an extra alert.
''I have directed all district Superintendents of Police to take extra precaution in the wake of the blasts,'' state Director General of Police William Richmond Marbaniang said.
Meanwhile, the Shillong Muslim Union had condemned Malegoan blast, which claimed 38 lives and injured about 190.
''Such terror need worldwide condemnation, '' SMU member and Meghalaya Congress Legislator Sayeedulah Nongrum said adding that the government should arrest the perpetrators at the earliest.
