Govt, Naga students on collision course
Imphal, Sept 9: The Manipur government has beefed up security in four hill districts, dominated by Naga tribes, to avoid violence.
The activists of the All Naga Students' Association, Manipur, (ANSAM) had destroyed government schools in the four districts on September 6 demanding introduction of Nagaland Board of Secondary Education in Manipur.
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh rejected the proposal yesterday.
He said the board of another state could not be introduced in this state.
Senior state officials were camping in the hill districts to monitor the situation.
State officials and organisations had stated that the NSCN(IM) and its frontal organisations were creating trouble in the region and the schools were forced to follow Nagaland Board creating lot of problems.
The ANSAM as a part of the stir had also banned videos and audios in Meitei language in the four hill districts of Tamenglong, Senapati, Ukhrul and Chandel and use of Meitei Mayek (Meitei Script).
