Left's 'diversionary statements' encourage terror
Dehra Dun, Sep 9: Terming the Malegoan blast killings as 'text book illustration' of terrorist activism aided by governmental apathy, the BJP today said the diversionary statements of the Left parties would further encourage the terrorists' resolve.
BJP Spokesman Arun Jaitley said the attacks in Malegoan were intended to create panic and generate tension but the intelligence agencies had no clue of what was happening. The investigative agencies had drawn a blank and Home Minister Shivraj Patil's 'uninspiring pedestrian' statement was an indicator that no firmness could be expected from the government and the people would continue to suffer from the weak kned policies of the UPA government, he said.
Asked about the Left parties' demand to initiate action against Bajrang Dal for Malegoan attack, Mr Jaitley said who was behind the attack was a 'factual matter' but such diversionary statements by the Left would only encourage the terrorists resolve, he said.
When asked for his comments over Muslims being targets of terrorist attacks this time unlike the previous attacks, Mr Jaitley said the BJP had condemned the attack and regretted the loss of innocent lives. On the demand for banning Bajrang Dal for communal propaganda, he said the government had sought to impose a ban on baseless allegations. The Tribunal which went into the issue did not uphold the ban, he said.
