K'taka marks 700 cr for drinking water supply

Dharwad, Sep 9: The Karnataka Government has earmarked Rs 700 crore for drinking water purposes in the state, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister C M Udasi informed today.

Speaking after inaugurating different development works at Mangundi village, near here, he said Rs 30 lakh per year was being released to village panchayats to take up development works and Rs 2,156 crore had been kept aside for the purpose.

Mr Udasi said the government was considering release of grants to village panchayats on the lines of Kerala.
