Indo-Sino relations to reach a new high: Pranab Mukherjee

Kolkata, Sep 9 (UNI) Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee said reopening Nathu La Pass, a part of the ancient silk route will take Indo-Sino relationship to a new high.

Speaking on the sidelines of a seminar here today, the Defence Minister said,''Both the countries have entered into the global arena and opening of Nathu La will further enhance the trade relations between the two countries,'' he said.

''Opening of Nathu La is a landmark achievement. We want to create a climate of peace so that growth in trade and other sectors take place. Both the countries will emerge as global superpowers in the coming days,'' he added.

The Defence Minister further mentioned that India exports goods worth 18 billion US dollars in the current year and the Centre plans to increase it to 20 billion US dollars by next year.
