Indo-Sino relations to reach a new high : Pranab Mukherjee

Kolkata, Sep 9 (UNI) After reopening of Nathu La Pass, a part of the ancient silk route, Indo-Sino relationship will reach a new high, Mr Mukherjee said.

Speaking in the sidelines of a seminar here today, the Defence Minister said,''Both the countries have entered into the global arena and opening of Nathu La will further enhance the trade relations between the two countries,'' he said.

The Defence Minister further mentioned that India exports US$ 18 billion in the current year and the Centre plans to increase it to US $ 20 billion by next year.

''Opening of Nathu La is a landmark achievement. We want to create a climate of peace so that growth in trade and other sectors take place. Both the countries will emerge as global superpowers in the coming days,'' he added.
