HP government providing clean, transparent govertnment: Minister

Shimla, Sep 9 (UNI) Reiterating that the Himachal Pradesh Government is committed to providing clean and a transparent government to the people, Irrigation and Public Health (IPH) Minister Kaul Singh Thakur said the government had taken effective steps to root out corruption at all levels.

''Officers and officials should work sincerely and ensure their participation in the overall development of the state,'' he said, while addressing a meeting of district officers at Reckong Peo in Kinnaur district, last evening.

Mr Thakur said the state government had adopted the election manifesto as the policy document and had taken effective steps besides constituting a cabinet sub committee for its implementation.

He said drinking water facility had been provided to all the census villages and added that 3,000 hamlets of the state would be provided drinking water facility during this financial year.

The government would also provide clean drinking water facility to 1,080 hamlets during next year, he said.

The IPH Minister said government was paying special attention towards social security sector and 2.12 lakh eligible people were being provided social security pension.

A sum of Rs 53.49 crore was being spent every year for providing pension to 2.l2 lakh people, he said, adding that 3,489 eligible people were being provided social security pension in Kinnaur district alone.
