Five yrs' imprisonment for possessing hemp
Betul, MP, Sep 9 (UNI) A special court has sentenced two women to five years' imprisonment and fined them Rs 30,000 each, failing which the term will be extended by six months, on the charge of possessing hemp (ganja).
According to prosecution, Andhra Pradesh's Warrangal-residents Saramma (40) and Sisamma (35) were apprehended from Amla station on November 21, 2005, and six kg hemp seized from them. The accused were travelling in G T Express.
Judge Shivmangal Singh found the women guilty under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and delivered the verdict yesterday.
