CPI (M) observes protest day

Written by: Staff

Kolkata, Sep 9 (UNI) Beginning a two-day programme against the Malegaon blast, the CPI (M) in West Bengal observed a protest day throughout the state today and demanded a thorough inquiry into the incident that left 38 people dead and scores injured.

CPI (M) state Secretary Biman Basu told reporters the party would also observe a protest day tomorrow by holding street meetings and taking out processions.

''We demand a thorough inquiry into the blast and punishment of the culprits. At the same time the people must keep a vigil against any attempt to whip up communal disharmony and recurrence of such incidents in future,'' he said.

Mr Basu said those involved in the blast were the enemies of people and added the people should be alert against their gameplan.
