Cong takes exception to ABVP rally
Ujjain, MP, Sep 9 (UNI) The Congress today took strong exception to the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) rally taken out yesterday to protest the arrest of two former workers of the organisation on the charge of murdering Madhav College Professor H S Sabharwal.
District Congress President Batukshankar Joshi and former legislator Rajendra Bharti told reporters here they objected to the rally taken out by the ABVP activists.
Describing the ''shielding of murder accused'' as the most loathsome incident in the history of democracy, the leaders alleged that the protestors had proved that they had no faith in their organisation, the BJP, which was in power.
Reiterating their demand for a CBI inquiry into the Professor's murder, they said the ABVP had also made the same demand now.
Dr Joshi strongly criticised ABVP workers' sloganeering in front of late Prof Sabharwal's house in the presence of police force, which remained a silent spectator.
He said Prof Sabharwal's family was frightened following death threats to his son and slogan shouting in front of their house.
Prof Sabharwal died when he was attacked by students, irked over postponement of student union elections on August 26.
