BDR objects to fencing work at Khowai

Agartala, Sep 9 (UNI) The fencing work on the India Bangladesh international border near Khowai town at Tripura's West district was suspended yesterday following the Bangladesh Rifle's objection.

Police sources told UNI Bangladesh Rifle's personnel ''harassed'' Indian workers claiming the pillars were being constructed inside 150 metres of the international boundary.

''Four pillars had been already constructed but they did not object then,'' police said.

Police sources also informed the construction of the pillars were done within the 150 metres area demarcated by the Indian government.

''The work going on near Bangladesh border has been suspended after the objection,'' police added.

A flag meeting is yet to be held between the BDR and the BSF on the issue, sources said.
