2 suspected Chikanguniya victims die in Alappuzha
Alappuzha, Sep 9 (UNI) Two persons suffering from fever, suspected to be Chikanguniya, have died in the Cherthala taluk of this district in Kerala, hospital sources said today.
Carmalie (65) from Kadakkarappally Panchayath and Biju (33) from Pattanakkad panchayat died yesterday at two hospitals in Cherthala taluk, taking to six the total number of suspected Chikanguniya victims in Alappuzha.
Earlier, four people, identified as Juliet (55), Sleshmanan (62), Narayani (73) and Jayaprasad (48) had reportedly fallen victim to the disease.
At present, more than 542 suspected Chikanguniya patients have been admitted in the Cherthala Taluk Hospital, which has a total bed of only 251.
