Veteran striker Hassan signs for Tersana
CAIRO, Sep 8 (Reuters) After a proposed move to former club Zamalek fell through, Africa's most capped international Hossam Hassan is joining Tersana in the Egyptian premier league, the club announced.
The 40-year-old, who helped his country to win the African Nations Cup title earlier this year, has signed a one-year contract.
Hassan joins Tersana after the closure of the transfer deadline in Egypt as a special dispensation from the Egyptian Football Association after two of the club's players died in a car accident last week.
Hassan had signed with Zamalek last month but the deal was cancelled after a change in leadership of the club.
Hassan rejoins former Egypt coach Farouk Gaafar at Tersana, who have failed to win in their first four matches of the new season.
Hassan, who won the last of 170 caps in February, is continuing his career in a bid to break Egypt's goal scoring record. He is the country's second best scorer all-time scorer with 162 goals at Al Ahly, Zamalek and Al Masry, only eight goals behind Hassan Al Shazli.
