UPA will meet NDA's fate it it goes back on CMP: Achariya
Indore, Sep 8 (UNI) Senior CPI(M) leader Basudeb Acharia today charged the UPA Government with going back on its Common Minimum Programme (CMP) and warned that it will meet the fate of previous NDA government.
''The UPA Government still has three years and it must take the right path,'' Mr Acharia told reporters here.
He pointed out that the Centre had passed legislation such as the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) besides backtracking on disinvestment due to pressure from Left parties.
The CPI(M) leader asserted that the Centre must proceed on important issues such as the US nuclear deal only after proper amendment in the Constitution.
He said the Left parties were pressurising the government to adopt an independent foreign policy.
Mr Acharia lashed out at the BJP for not playing the role of an effective opposition at the Centre. Besides supporting the government, Left parties were acting as opposition.
