Tripura alerts to face natural calamity
Agartala, Sep 08 (UNI) Alerted by the prediction of the seismologists, the Tripura government has taken up all possible precautions to tackle earthquake in the state.
State Relief and Rehabilitation minister Keshab Majumder said with the state falling within seismic zone number five, it is always under high risk of disaster.
Commenting on the prediction of geologist N Venkatanathan regarding severe earthquake in Asom today, the minister said though nothing could be told about the occurrence, the neighbouring states of Asom have also beefed up the precautionary measures.
All the state departments have been alerted to open control rooms in all the four districts of the state.
Moreover, 500 volunteers along with fire service personnel and medical teams have been asked to be ready, the minister said.
Helipads have been constructed at each headquarter and two satellite phones were installed to face the consequences of the sudden calamity.
The geologists had also predicted that besides Asom, the seismic waves might spread to other parts of the North Eastern states.
