SP concerned at high accident rate in TN dist

Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, Sep 8 (UNI) Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar today expressed serious concern over the high rate of accidents in the district.

Speaking to reporters here, Mr Kumar said in the last eight months 259 people lost their life in mishaps, which was nearly ten times the number of incidents of murder in the same period.

He said lack of road discipline and negligence contributed to the high rate of accidents.

It was found a number of victims died due to head injuries as they failed to wear helmets.

On investigations into murder cases, Mr Kumar said the police had solved 38 of the 39 cases.
