Software training centre for Chinese professionals comes up

Kolkata, Sept 08 (UNI) Recognising the true world class potential of IT professionals in West Bengal, China's Jangiang provincial authority has decided to set up a major software training centre here for Chinese IT professionals.

Referring to the recent meeting with Jangiang Overseas Industrial Corporation Chairman Ji Liang after the signing of an MOU with the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation(WBIDC) for setting up the first Chinese Industral hub in the country at Rajarhat Industrial estate near here, West Bengal Information Technology Minister Debesh Das today told newsmen that the delegation from Nanjing city had evinced keen interest in establishing a state-of-the-art IT training centre for Chinese professionals to impart training by the Indian IT experts.

However, the issue was still at "preliminary stage", Dr Das clarified but hoped a concrete proposal to this effect would come before the year end open a new vista for the Indian software experts before the global players.

This apart, the IT Minister said talks had recently been intiated with a major global computer hardware manufacturer in Taiwan for setting up their global manufacturing unit in Kolkata under joint venture agreement with the state government.

Though talks were still at a very early stage, their response was so far very positive, Dr Das said adding his department might soon start scouting for suitable land for the proposed plant with world class infrastructural facilities.

Earlier, addresing the CII members, Dr Das said as more than 238 IT companies from across India had set up their units in West Bengal during 2005 alone and the state government had planned to set up four Special Economic Zones(SEZ) for IT and ITES sectors at Durgapur, Kharagpur, Haldia and Jagdishpur by next year.

" We are looking for acquiring nearly 2000 acre of land for this purpose and hope to complete the deal by this year end after their proper indentification, " he said.
