Sensex down 80 pts in intra-noon trade
Mumbai, Sep 8 (UNI) The BSE Sensex was down five points in the intra-noon trade after reaching a high of 11,930.17 and opening marginally up in the opening session on account of drop in the crude oil price to a low of US dollar 66 per barrel mark.
Currently the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensitive Index (Sensex) is trading at 11,849 points, which is four points below the previous close.
The drop in the performance is with respect to the last day trading volatility, which normally attracts profit booking if the sensex is trading high.
Amongst the sectoral indices except FMCG, IT and oil and gas, all other indices were trading in the green. FMCG was down by 0.04 per cent, IT was down by 0.56 per cent and oil and gas was down by 0.32 per cent. The gainers were led by consumer durables sector which was up by 1.23 per cent.
The major gainers on the index were Reliance Communications, Hero Honda, Marui, Hindalco, BHEL, Reliance Energy, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Auto, Cipla and Tata Steel - all up from 0.34 to 4.49 per cent.
The losers on the index were Wipro, HDFC, Infosys, Reliance Industries, Grasim, Satyam, SBI, L&T, HLL, and NTPC - all down from 0.50 to 1.06 per cent.
