Security stepped up in TN following blast in Maharashtra
Chennai, Sep 8 (UNI) Security has been tightened all over Tamil Nadu in the wake of today's serial blasts at Malegaon in Maharashtra, which killed at least 30 people and wounded 125.
Police sources told UNI that a red alert has been sounded across the state. Police authorities have been asked to take extra vigil to provide security.
Additional forces were deployed in all the places, especially at the famed Hindu temples like Sri Ranganathaswamy temple at Srirangam (Tiruchirapalli), Big temple at Thanjavur, Sri Arunachaleshwarar temple, Tiruvannamalai, Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple at Madurai and other temples.
Security measures have also been tightened at airports and all important railway stations, IT parks, offices of foreign consulates and other important government offices, the sources added.
Night patrolling in all vulnerable areas and other important places all over the state has been enhanced, the sources said adding the officials concerned were instructed to watch the movements of suspected outsiders, who were staying in lodges and taking treatment at private hospitals here.
