SC and ST Ministers welcomes Commission

Hyderabad, Sep 8 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh State Ministers belonging to Scheduled Castes today welcomed the one-man Commission appointed by the Central Government to go into the issue of categorisation of Scheduled Castes in the country with specific reference to Andhra Pradesh.

Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development K Ranga Rao, Minister for Tourism and Sugar J Geeta Reddy, Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development, G. Surya Rao, Minister for Labour and Employment G. Vinnod, and Minister for Life Irrigation and Ground Water Developoment M.Marappa in a joint press conference here today assured that the Dalit leaders would abide by the judgement of the one-man commission.

They thanked the State Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy for his efforts in helping to break the two-year-old impasse on the issue of classifying the scheduled castes. They also lauded the efforts of the different political parties in the State for their assistance to solve the issue.

The Ministers said that the Congress Government had committed for the uplift of the Scheduled Castes and other backward communities in the State. The Centre's decision would go a long way in improving the quality of life of the deprived sections among the SCs, they added.
