Russia to stop Iran n-plant if inspectors expelled
London, Sep 8: Russia will halt the construction of the Bushehr nuclear power plant on Iran's Gulf coast if Tehran expels inspectors from the United Nation's atomic energy watchdog, a high ranking Russian source said today.
''If Iran expels the IAEA inspectors, we will immediately halt our work,'' the source said.
Earlier this year, Iran threatened to expel IAEA inspectors as tensions over the country's nuclear programme grew.
Western countries suspect Tehran is trying to develop nuclear weapons but Iran, the world's fourth largest oil exporter, says its enrichment of uranium is a legal and peaceful programme to meet civilian energy needs.
