Prof's death shadow still looms over MP

Bhopal, Sep 7 (UNI) JD(U) President Sharad Yadav today condemned the August 26 death of Prof Harbhajan Singh Sabharwal following student violence at Ujjain's Madhav College in the wake of abrupt postponement of a students' union poll.

''This incident was unprecedented in the history of such elections,'' he told reporters here today.

A UNI report from Ujjain said senior CID officers -- led by IG M P Dwivedi -- probing the incident started back for Bhopal yesterday but a few juniors are busy giving final shape to the investigation.

Meanwhile, the police expressed displeasure with the Medical Education Department over the return of the deceased's heart, sans examination, by the Indore-based Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital as the organ was not properly sealed.

Sources said cardiac arrest was earlier given as the reason for death but post mortem revealed that broken ribs obstructed the windpipe.

Last night, two motorcycle-borne youths threatened to kill the professor's son, Himanshu. Eye-witness peon Komal Singh, who also received threats over phone, is under police protection.

''Himanshu was on foot when the duo abused him and warned of dire consequences if he did not stop raking up the case,'' said CSP Rajesh Mishra.
