Police seize 550 rocket launchers from Maoist courier

Mahabubnagar, Andhra Pradesh, Sep 8 (UNI) In a major breakthrough, police seized 550 rocket launchers from a vehicle being escorted by a CPI (Maoist) activist in Amrabad mandal in this district early today.

The weapons were reportedly being transported to be hidden in a dump in the Nallamala forest for future use.

According to sources, police intercepted a vehicle and seized 550 rocket launchers and 15 mining machines from it. They also reportedly arrested a Maoist activist, who was accompanying the weapons.

The vehicle was intercepted at Jangareddygudem, an entry point into thick forests, sources said.

Director General of Police Swaranjeet Sen is expected to address newsmen on details of the find.
