Police officer dismissed for sexual assault
Itanagar, Sep 8 (UNI) The Arunachal Pradesh government has terminated the service of a police sub Inspector at Deomali police station under Changlang district for outraging the modesty of a woman in custody.
Deomali police station Sub Inspector Pusa Bayor, who was arrested for sexually assaulting a woman under trial on July 27, was dismissed from service on September one, official sources said.
District Superintendent of Police M S Chauhan dismissed Bayor under Article 311 (Part-II) and state Discipline and Appeals Rules section-15 for ''terrorising and intimidating'' the victim in custody.
Sanction for prosecution was sought from the government for chargesheeting the police officer as the investigation process was nearing completion, district police sources informed.
Condemning the incident, the Noctc Welfare Forum (NWF) had demanded the accused officer's dismissal from service under CCS (CCA0) rules (II) to regain the trust and faith of the general public towards the police force.
