Nortel celebrates 15 yrs of partnership with Wipro
Bangalore, Sep 8: Celebrating a fruitful 15-year partnership with software major Wipro, telecom giant Nortel today announced that it will increase significantly its procurement from India and China with the Asian telecom market growing big.
Company Chief Procurement Officer John B Haydon, who had recently shifted to Hong Kong from Canada, told newspersons here that besides services, Nortel was aiming to increase in product procurement as well as Research and Development outsourcing.
Stating that Wipro was one of the top 100 partners for Nortel, Mr Haydon, who declined to comment on the financials of the partnership, said Wipro was Nortel's customer and vice versa.
Besides, the two have joined together to take up projects directly and Bharati telecom was one such example. Nortel was managing the technology part of Bharati's networks.
Wipro Product Engineering Solutions President Ramesh Emani said Nortel was one of the top ten customers of Wipro. More than 1,000 Wiproites were working for Nortel projects, he added.
