Jabalpur, Sep 8 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh High Court has directed the state government to maintain the maximum height of Khandwa district's Indira Sagar reservoir at 260 m.

Justices Deepak Mishra and Shantanu Sharad Kemkar today settled an NBA plea. Petitioners' Counsel N S Kale submitted that 10,000 persons across 91 villages were being affected by the level exceeding 245 m.

The bench ruled that every landowner whose plot was acquired be compensated with five acres elsewhere.

In 1994, construction began on the 1,000-MW Indira Sagar Project on the Narmada. Residents of 249 villages and Harsud town were displaced.
