'Madrasas have no role in terrorism': Mr Kumaraswamy

Bangalore, Sep 8 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today clarified that he had never said that madrasas were involved in terrorist activities.

''In the speech delivered in the meeting of Chief Ministers on Internal Security held at New Delhi on September Five, I have said that terrorist organisations are trying to use the Madrasas. I have never said that Madrasas are involved in tetrorist activities'', Mr Kumaraswamy has said, according to a release from Media co-ordination Officer to Chief Minister.

Mr Kumaraswamy said that ''I have great regard for the minority community. Madrasas are holy institutions. These institutions are helping Muslim Community for their education and upliftment. Our Government has tried to strengthen these religious institutions through additional grants in the budget and we are committed to uphold the dignity of Madrasas.'' The Chief Minister also appealed to the people belonging to Minority Community not to listen to the rumours.
