Ireland coach Staunton given one-match ban
LONDON, Sept 8 (Reuters) Ireland coach Steve Staunton has been given a one-match touchline ban by UEFA after being dismissed during Saturday's 1-0 defeat by Germany in a Euro 2008 Group D qualifier.
UEFA said on its website that Staunton, who was in charge of his first competitive game in the match in Stuttgart, will have to watch the Oct. 7 clash against Cyprus from the stands.
Staunton was sent from the bench after 76 minutes against Germany for ''constantly protesting against the decisions of the referee''.
