Government urged to increase NCC's refreshment allowance

Berhampur, Sep 8 (UNI) National Cadet Corps (NCC) has urged the Orissa government to enhance the refreshment allowance of the cadets from the present 0.75 paise to Rs 2 for each period, according to Deputy Director General, NCC, Kuldeep Chaturvedi here today.

This would enable the NCC cadets to get more refreshment allowance, he added.

While the NCC cadets in the school level were going through rigorous physical training twice a week consisting of three periods of forty minutes duration each in a day and six periods every Sunday at college level, they were being provided with scanty refreshment.

The allowance must be enhanced, he said.

Meanwhile, the state government had provided 4.1 acre of land at Chandrasekharpur here for establishment of a full-fledged NCC Nagar at a cost of Rs 13 crore, he said.

When the space for shooting range had become a constraint, NCC Nagar would help us arrange even underground shooting test and boost the morale of the NCC cadets, he said.

" We have planned to establish NCC Nagar at each unit of the state, " he said.
