Flood situation improves in Gujarat as rains recede
Ahmedabad, Sep 8 (UNI) About 80 villages of Anand and Kheda districts are still affected by flood waters even as rains receded in central Gujarat today.
Two Army helicoptors are on alert as a precautionary measure, said Kheda collector R R Varsani.
About 40 villages of Kheda and as many villages in Anand have affected by floods triggered by Kadana dam water release and about eight thousand people were evacuated in these two districts yesterday.
These include Palla village, and villages under Matar, Kheda taluka, Kapadwanj as well as several others near Tarapur.
Certain interior road routes have been disrupted by the flooding, though traffic movement on the national highway and the Vadodara-Ahmedabad expressway was normal. Traffic on the road connecting Tarapur to Padra and Bharuch has been stopped as part of a small overbridge over a drain got washed away near Gambhira village. Kheda-Memdabad route too has been affected.
In Ahmedabad, the situation has improved since yesterday though the areas near Dholka town are on alert.
