30 killed, 80 hurt in Malegaon blast; curfew clamped

Nashik, Maharashtra, Sep 8: At least thirty people were killed and 80 wounded in three blasts this afternoon in Malegaon in western Maharashtra, resulting in clashes which forced the authorities to impose curfew.

Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and his deputy R R Patil, who holds the Home portfolio, have reached the textile town, about 90 km from here.

The situation in the town was described as tense as agitated people clashed with the police after the blasts at Fateh Maidan, Mushiara Chowk and at the main gate of Bada Kabirstan, police sources here said, adding this forced the authorities to impose a curfew.
