Five hardcore militants nabbed, explosives seized

Imphal, Sep 8 (UNI) Five hardcore militants were apprehended and a big cache of explosives was seized in three separate incidents during the past 24 hours.

In an ongoing effort to flush out the miscreants, the Assam Rifles (AR) conducted a search operation and apprehended a Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) cadre yesterday.

AR later nabbed a United National Liberation Front (UNLF) cadre here, which was controlling various UNLF activities, AR spokesperson said here today.

After a detailed interrogation, the cadre revealed that explosives were hidden in a particular area. The AR then launched another operation and recovered huge amount of explosives and ammunition.

The cadres, along with the seized items, were handed over to Lamlai and Lamphel police stations.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police, Kailun said three cadres of People's Liberation Army (PLA) were nabbed at J N hospital here.
