Expulsion of 3 BITS, Dubai students kicks up controversy

Dubai, Sep 8 (UNI) Suspension of three students of BITS Pilani campus in Dubai, has kicked up a controversy on their rights for free expression.

A second year Chemical Engineering student has been indefinitely suspended for posting his blog on the Internet, while two others are being punished for posting responses.

The blog, http://blazefanthom.blogspot.com, describes a student's frustration at campus life with one entry speaking of terrible things happening there.

Students were unwilling to speak to the media saying reading the blog would give an idea of how they would be disciplined if caught speaking to journalists.

Whatever the blog describes, is exactly how the campus functions.

''It's just that the blogger has at times used offensive language at times to vent out his anger,'' a newspaper quoted a student as saying.
