Cops step up anti-crime drive, arrest 98
Bangalore, Sept 8: Continuing its drive against rising crimes in the city, the Bangalore police have confiscated property, including cash and gold worth Rs four crore, and arrested 98 people during the last two months, City Police Commissioner Neelam Achyuta Rao said today.
Addressing newspersons here, he said the police also continued with their action againt video piracy by conducting raids on a number of places in the city and seizing thousands of pirated VCDs and CDs.
The Commissioner said the seized property included 43 four wheelers, 28 two wheelers and two three wheelers, besides a large quantity of gold jewellery, silver articles and cash.
Mr Rao said the arrested included six inter-State vehicle-lifter gangs. They were arrested while travelling in a stolen vehicle with lethal weapons.
The police also nabbed 362 offenders, rowdies, criminals hitherto absconding and those declared as out of view from six circles, including the newly formed South East circle, he added.
