BSF chopper develops technical snag mid-air, officials safe
Jammu, Sep 8 (UNI) Two senior officers of Border Security Force (BSF) had a narrow escape this afternoon when a chopper carrying them developed a technical snag at Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Official sources said the helicopter, carrying Deputy Inspector General (BSF) R L Sharma and Commandant of 69 Battalion R K Foefdar, developed a snag mid-air after 15 minutes of its take off from Tarrgat area of Kalakote tehsil of Rajouri district. The officers were on an official visit to the militancy-infested belt of the state.
The chopper which took off at 1445 hrs was destined for Pouni area of Reasi tehsil of Udhampur district.
Sources added after realising that the chopper had developed a snag, pilot Ashok kumar tried to make a safe landing. After great difficulty, the chopper was finally made to land at Juma Morh of Rajouri. The officers got minor injuries during the emergency landing.
