BRO constructs road to air-fed Sarli

Itanagar, Sep 8 (UNI) Border Roads Organisation(BRO), the defence road construction company, will connect all the remote areas of Arunachal Pradesh.

The BRO has already constructed a road in the hilly terrains of Sarli under Kurung Kumey district, which was air-fed earlier.

The 756 Border Road Task Force (BRTF) Commander U K Pandey said though Sarli was connected by a Kaccha road, a few temporary bridges and culverts were under construction.

Soon after Governor S K Singh and Chief Minister Gegong Apang announced that the state's remotest areas would be connected through road network, 756 BRTF led by Mr Pandey and Vartak chief engineer S S Porwal had taken up the herculean task to construct the 50-km road from Koloriang to Sarli on war footing.

''Completing the road within a short span of time is the greatest challenge,'' BRO Director General Lt Gen K S Rao said.

'' Helicopters have been pressed into action to transport supplies. Work posed a tough challenge at many points, particularly in blasting and removing hard rocks to level the surface,'' he said.

The road would connect over 3,500 people living in the far flung villages Mr Rao added.
