BJP's move to withdraw cases against Togadia criticised
Jaipur, Sep 8 (UNI) People Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) has criticised the Rajasthan government's move to withdraw court cases against leaders who have allegedly helped fan communal tension saying it will instil fear among the minority communities.
PUCL feels the move to withdraw case against Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) international general secretary Praveen Togadia is part of its Hindutva agenda and violates all legal procedures. The group said it will challenge the government's decision in the court.
The NGO has crticised the government's move to withdraw case against another VHP leader Acharya Dharmendra. PUCL says court cases against Dr Togadia and Acharya Dharmendra quietened them down and communal peace returned to the state but now the government's move is a sort of invitation for the leaders again.
PUCL says the BJP's move has been taken keeping in mind the Assembly elections after two years.
