Barmer lashed with rains again
Jaipur, Sep 8 (UNI) Several places in Barmer district received heavy rainfall with Chauhatan in Barmer and Mount Abu receiving 140 mm rainfall in the past 24 hours.
However, rains have receded in Kota and Udaipur divisions but around 200 water bodies in the region are overflowing and water is being discharged from many big dams.
According to the irrigation department, six gates of the 1312 ft Gandhisagar dam built on Chambal river have been opened to discharge 24,713 cusecs water while the inflow is 61,784 cusecs.
Consequently , 10 gates of 854 ft capacity Kota Barrage were opened in the afternoon to let out 6,970 cusecs water into Chambal river.
Sources said on 281 .50 ft Mahi dam in Udaipur division, the inflow is 1,4790 cusecs and outflow is 1,22216 cusecs.
Weather department said Revdar in Barmer recorded 80 mm, Dhorimana 50, Ranivara in Jalore, Abu Road, Bhinmal in Sirohi and Jaswantpura in Jodhpur recorded 40 mm.
The weather department predicted rains in some places in south-western Rajasthan over the next 24 hours.
