Wipro launches e-waste disposal service
Bangalore, Sep 7 (UNI) Wipro Infotech has institutionalised and launched an e-waste disposal service for its customers.
The company which had been actively working on this issue since August 2005, said in a release here that it had identified suitable disposal mechanisms, created service points across the country, identified technically competent disposal agencies and set up a complete process for disposal of e-waste.
Identification of suitable e-waste disposal partners will now be available exclusively for Wipro customers in respect of the company's PCs, laptops and servers for processing and recycling of related e-waste. Customers can avail this facility from 15 locations across the country by paying a nominal charge towards freight and logistics, the the company statement said.
Launching the service, company Vice-President (Personal Computing) Ashutosh Vaidya said, ''We are happy to pioneer this effort for our customers, which will enable disposal of e-waste in an appropriate and environment-friendly way. The service is comprehensive covering all aspects of e-waste collection, recycling, monitoring and compliance to relevant pollution control laws.'' It may be recalled here that Greenpeace had recently staged a protest in front of the company's premises against not having an effective e-waste disposal service.
